3077 Had more snow! emoticon It was so beautiful to walk in yesterday! (2.2 miles)

The fasting is changing all sorts of things. (I've continued: day #10) I'm down 17 lbs. and I finally feel like there is hope I can find my old self (body that is). My sleep is deeper. My emotions are more balanced.
DH and I were talking about maybe choosing a day a week and both doing this... (Maybe the first thing in a LONG time that we do together???)

There's a bit of snow on the ground today AND it's stayed on the branches. It's a very pretty snowscape outside!

(Thanks for the prayers. I'm in a "battle zone" on several fronts...) -- I've been water fasting for a week; still looking for answers.

I felt that way for Thanksgiving in 2016. -- I simply put a turkey breast in the crock pot for the necessary # of hrs. Opened a tub of organic salad greens + a few assorted veggies alongside. Then I served up potatoes from our garden that were boiled w/ the skins.

It didn't feel overwhelming AND it was all portable to someone's house, which is what we did. Add some sparkling cider if it is a "festive" occasion.
emoticon
This year was even more "simple" since my son did most of it. He bought an extra large frozen lasagna (think 10-12 servings) and cooked it. He served it as the main course. Add bread & a salad, drink & dessert. It was not complicated. Tasted great!

* It would always depend on if there were ingredients that could be growing harmful bacteria???

* I think I would probably say 40 min on HIGH... no low temps. Might want to oil the pot so that everything doesn't stick?! I would think it would be okay to give it a try...

Sounds... very relaxing. We don't even have a bathtub. We had a serious discussion of getting a galvanized tub (like they used during the pioneer days).

Joe is doing a bit better. At least he is able to work. But he comes home rather tired. It sure hasn't been an easy couple of weeks for us.

Yeah, working with that seems to be more difficult than it's worth. Too much energy to figure out what's "ok". I have been following more of a 80/20 and sometimes a 90/10. And even when I did follow it "religiously", the weight wouldn't go below "set pt."

My acupuncturist feels that stress & internal damage over the past year+ is all going to take TIME to repair.

Yeah.... my body refuses to budge right now.

You had a food allergy test right? Keep to that. When I stopped eating all the food that was causing me problems, I was loosing lots of weight rather quickly.

Stress keeps the weight on, or can make one gain weight.

As for not being flexible, see your SP mailbox. :-)

Sigh.... The body just won't change. Some things help for a bit, but nothing changes it in the direction I want to go. (I've NEVER weighed this much in my entire life--including each of the times carrying 3 children to term!) -- I was the tall, skinny kid for the first 24 yrs of my life!
emoticon
I think about fasting for a week or two to CHANGE the internal whatnot's that seemed to be "knotty". (Puns intended!) -- I'm ready to just live from day to day & quit the scale & worrying about "eat this, not that"; "avoid this & this & this & this"...

Had a crazy day Wed. & then again on Thurs. Seems like my ability to be "flexible" comes w/ a COST. In other words, the energy expended to do my job and adjust to all the constant changes (ie. work, relationships, home--remodel is KILLING me as it DRAGS on!)... is that all just another description of STRESS?!?

It hurts to move. I hurt everywhere! Why? Because I did a bit of yard work. The property manger called late yesterday to inform me that the owners want to get an insurance hmmm
So, an insurance agent is coming tomorrow to 'rate' our place. Just the outside.

I did what I could do. Then when hubby came home, he checked it over. Said there wasn't much he could do because it was getting dark.

Okay, so here's the question: Since I've been so immobile with having to rest most of the time, when I do move, I end up sore. Any suggestions? I can see years worth of pain and soreness until I can actually strengthen my muscles. emoticon

Well, DD started moving out Sunday. I told her last week that she had a choice: treat me better & w/ respect or find another place to live. (She, of course, said it was all my fault.)

Tried a "new" meal for me. Family said it was a do-again! Pad Thai can be varied to suit individual tastes. (ie. calls for egg & I left that out) - I added extra veggies from the fridge. DH wants me to include kale next time!

allrecipes.com/recipe/42968/pad-thai
/

I added onions, mushrooms, garlic, zucchini, broccoli & snap peas & sauteed them in avocado oil. -- One could easily use brown rice or couscous or even lentils in place of rice noodles. Most of the recipes I've seen include LIME not lemon.

I do have some stuff that is supposed to be non-flavored protein "broth". However, doesn't matter what I do to it, it isn't very palatable.

Nope, this stuff, not the one you get (nor I had gotten in previous times) tastes terrible. Thinking it might taste like beef/meat? May had it to a soup.

Struggling today. Was very quiet yesterday. I'm back to wanting to sleep for a week. :-(

I take a small cup & add water & add the collagen. Mix until blended. Add it to anything else you are drinking! Add cinnamon if you like. It almost tastes like "nothing" because when I add it in w/ whatever I'm drinking, I never know it's there!
* It won't solve anything adrenal.
* It may help w/ joints, skin, hair, nails...

Sooo..... I decided to purchase a small container of collagen from Vitacost (instead of the one you recommended and I've been using). It tastes TERRIBLE!! emoticon I'm not sure how to use it. lol

Finally seeming to be getting better sleep (as per tracker) & how I feel. The only "issue" is feeling like I just can't get going in the morning... so adrenals still not working as they "should". Might take more time! It's only been 4 days w/ an herbal tea made specifically for me by my acupuncturist (drink 2x's each day).

4.5 more work days this calendar year. So far, scheduled for 2 of them. Just need ONE more for pay raise. emoticon

Yes to the fires. Santa Anna winds (hot and dry and powerful). So far we are not affected here.

Glad you had the blood test done. Most people are allergic to something that they are not aware of which causes havoc with the body.

Eggs was a big thing for me, too. You know about all the egg substitutes? i.e. flax seeds, etc.
Even with the substitutes, there are many recipes and foods that I can no longer eat.

Go with other proteins. I knew someone from the Leaky Gut webinars who made their version of sausage and ate that in the mornings.

I'm off dairy, also. Don't miss it much, except when a recipe calls for it. Difficult for me to find a substitute for that.

Sounds like you have good advice. The Lord keeps having to remind me to, "Focus on Veggies."

It seems to me that once the inflammation in your body goes down, then the weight will come off. So will the high blood pressure reading and the high cholesterol readings.

There are now some good recipe books at my library. A few years ago, there wasn't. I'm putting a few on hold.

Look at it this way; it is keeping our brains and bodies young!

I hear there are fires again in S.Cal. emoticon Here, the wind is gusting quite high in some places w/ sustained @35mph.
That's probably a fairly good reference to figuring life out in your teens/twenties. emoticon

So, yes, I also get the list of things "not to have"...completely upending the things one has been accustomed to for YEARS. I had a blood test done to indicate food allergies. One of my big go-to proteins has been in essence taken away (eggs!). I would average @ 8 a week +/- ; always 2 at a time. I could have them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Now what???

Apparently I react to ALL things dairy: milk, cottage cheese, cheese, yogurt, sour cream, ETC. I also react to wheat & spelt. -- I've been told to eat 90% veggies & occasional fruit (berries!) + most fish items.

(At least you aren't 50#'s overweight! -- My body seems "set" to stay where it's at; even w/ Intermittent Fasting (12-18 hrs). emoticon

Glad you have a place to go.

yeah... the kids grow up and out, needing to find their own way. So sad. Kinda like the Amish Rumspring?

Me too. It is all about celebrating Him. Excellent declaration.

My mind is reeling as I write this: Just learned that I should not be eating grains. Grains seem to be contributing to weight gain and HBP. Deep breath here! Any suggestions? I am allowed to eat what I have in the house first and to not purchase any more. What do I eat instead???? Youser!!

With the house all torn apart... no place to "land". We'll go to adult son's place for Christmas as a family.
None of the kids are connected to a church right now. Sigh...

Working on my own heart & mind that it would reflect & honor the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Sometimes. I adore Advent Calendars, but find most of them not... nourishing. I grew up Catholic. I miss the liturgical/mainline church celebrations.

One year, as I put up the Nativity scene, I asked the Lord about the Family, etc. He told me some amazing things. I am making it into an Adult Coloring book, "Celebrate with Me". The Lord gave me the title. :-)

I am currently using an old Advent Calendar that is adorable. Do you remember the Holly Hobbies? It is scriptural. I also have a favorite Calendar that was given to me by my boss, an Episcopalian priest, years ago. It is a Cat Family's Christmas. It rhymes and is cute.

What are you doing?

You do have an interesting life! Try commanding the screamer to be quiet in Jesus' Name (quietly) and see what happens.

Yeah... I taught Sunday school for a few years. The younger they are, the less they can do. So the teacher has to do all the work. However, they are usually a fun age group.

I ACTUALLY, FINALLY went somewhere today! I was a bit nervous, but got through it just fine. Came home (after only 45 minutes) tired, and with a sore back. But it went well. Learned a few things and had a great time. Where did I go?? My annual Christmas trek to the Dollar Store in town. I was able to purchase a few Christmas items for the house and for gifts. Got to pet a cute dog, too.

We have twinkle lights up in the living room for the first time in years. See FB.

Shalom blessings!

Just seems like a "fun" number, eh?! emoticon

I have determined that "making memories" & time together is far more important than a particular named holiday...of any sort. (It would be my prayer that we could focus on Advent that starts on Sunday!)
Thankfulness/gratitude should be a daily attitude. We are so very blessed.

My DH has a limited repertoire of items he will fix. He grew up on meat & potatoes every day of the week for dinner. Then out to eat on Sat. & Sun. (With no mom; they just made the best of it.) -- He loves to eat things from the garden: often home-grown potatoes w/ kale. So tonight I made him a Dutch dish of sorts w/ boiled potatoes, chopped onion, shredded kale, garlic & beef kielbasa. It ends up being all "stomped" together! (ie. mashed potatoes "loaded" w/ veggies & a bit of meat)
I do hope you will find blessings in the midst of difficult times. emoticon

How about just skipping the Holiday this year? What would happen if you skipped it??

Supportive family? hmmmm
Bringing a dish? No. However, Joe usually brings home leftovers, so I don't have to cook for him.
DH cook? Yes for himself. He makes the weirdest concoctions. He tries very hard to not cook for me, too many restrictions and the consequences of not doing it right.

emoticon Sorry to hear of your limitations...
A church that we had gone to for 5 yrs had a Thanksgiving PM service on the Sunday before each year. It was baptisms, testimonies, and a family focus.

Is your family supportive of you during this time? Will someone be bringing a dish or two by? Does your DH cook?

I've done the "out to dinner"--that is actually my vote for this year! The problem is coordinating days / times / schedules. DD works 3, 12-hr shifts, from Thurs. PM to Sun. AM. She is sleeping during the day on Thurs. to be ready to deal w/ "up-all-night" for 12 hrs. emoticon One son has been home sick this week. He wanted to do it later... I have appts. on Sunday & she has other things going on then as well. Dealing w/ crowds of people to meet up w/ DS who lives about an hr away is also a "problem". --- We'll have to decide something sooner rather than later!

My emoticon plans are: NOT going anywhere (have only been to the street corner and back in weeks); viewing a Thanksgiving Day service or two on Youtube; lighting a pumpkin spice candle while saying a prayer; saying other 'thanksgiving-type' prayers during the day; and resting a lot!

Can you all go out to dinner? We did that once, it was... different.

I found THE most adorable holiday dresses in an FB ad. However, they mostly had black or white tops (around the face). Can't get near those colors. So sad. It was fun to look, though. By Rosegal

DH is home on vacation and really, truly at home. He's tired and so resting up. I'm enjoying it for what it's worth!!
