Fantastic MAW! You did good!

I did what I wanted--try 24 hour fasting a couple of times a week and a 36-48 hour fast before the end of the month.

Hurray for us all!

That's great, Maw! Wow I wish I had that get-up-and-go! I didn't do too badly though, with carbs especially. It helped me lose some weight this month. I can work some more on exercise.

Wow! I did really well last month! Checked in every day, which isn't a surprise. (I have more than 3 years of checking in to SP every day!). Didn't eat anything not on my food plan all month! Had vegetables every day for lunch and supper, or only for supper if I fasted and didn't eat lunch. Tracked my food almost every day. Did something new every day (even if one day my something new was not doing anything new!) Walked Russell almost every day, and did my knee exercise most days. Wasn't so good about getting to bed on time, but I got to bed earlier a lot more often because of this challenge. Not bad, if I do say so myself!

So glad it's cooler! Used my air fryer for the first time to bake a loaf bread that was cake sized, a normal bread pan is wayy too much. I found a silicone pan that fitted except for the edges at the short ends and cut most of those off, so it could bake in there and it worked out great!

Shall we continue with the July Monthly Challenge here, or move over to the other site? I know Naypooie intends to stay here until the bitter end. I'm both places. Doesn't matter to me, though this one is more convenient since the latest posts are at the top.

Finishing up a 40 hour fast--will eat at lunch today. It wasn't super easy, but not as bad as I feared. Will stick with the 16/8 intermittent fasting for a while before trying the 24 again and shoot for a 48 in the next couple of months.

Hydration is a good thing.

How about drinking water for next month's challenge? Staying hydrated is especially important when it's hot.

It will be July so hot out there, exercise is not really a good one. There will be less vegetables than in May and June, is that an option? I have no issues with going to bed on time, my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome makes sure of it! (I fall literally over if I don't get enough sleep and that's an average of 10 hours a night.) But I don't mind if July's challenge is about that.

Oh and are we doing the last month still on here?

Daily notes:
The highest point today was 113, instead of 116 that was forecast. There were no power outages and our airco kept the inside temp at 90 or lower, so that worked out well. We did use wet clothes and water spray bottles and had lots of salt and sports drinks (me sugarfree powerade) and I didn't do very much. I had 22 steps and I'm -not- going to try to get more. It is 104 now but I have to try and sleep for tomorrow's work and our bedroom has no airco, so that will be fun :/ Once the temp outside is lower than inside we'll put the fan back in.

It's almost next month already! Any ideas for the July challenge?

I seem to be doing pretty well with all my challenges - except getting to bed on time. I'm with Woubbie; I seem to have a resistance to going to bed. I guess I'll work on that next month. Among other things.

Survived the first day, of 104, that is the highest I've ever been in so far! (Until tomorrow) So, today worked out okay, there was one terrifying power hiccup of a second but no other issues. Tomorrow will be the 115 degree day, let's hope that goes as smoothly.

Amaranth, a basin of some sort you can put your feet in, and a rag of some kind you can soak in water and put on your head will help. Can you cover your windows (especially in the parts you won't be using) with something solid and dark to keep the solar heat out? If you fill your bathtub with cold water (it won't stay cold long, but should still be cool) you can soak in it periodically.

And, Amaranth, PLEASE go to a cool down shelter somewhere if you need to!

Omg amaranth!! That's awful in a trailer home!! I know, I had one for 18 years!! we actually had 3 air units 10,000 but each in an 1100 sq foot home. But if you can block off part of it it might work. We had pets to worry about too so we had to cool all of it. The issue is the poor insulation and the metal on it. Now in the old regular house, we have less bills and can survive on 2 AC units. I like 4...2up and 2 downstairs. But we've been ok so far with one upstairs and one downstairs so far this year...

Daily notes:
I'm 'dooms day prepping' for a 116 degree F day Sunday. I'm kind of terrified. This is the first time I'll even be over 102 ever. Tomorrow will be 106. But Sunday will be crazy. Trying to put a blanket across the hallway to the front of the house so the cool air from our one airco doesn't go there, have spritz bottles to spray yourself with, take the fan out of the bedroom window and close it so the air can't come in, have enough water to last a few days in case something bad happens with the pipes. I also made sure our powerbanks are full in case the grid goes. We'll be eating cool food like sandwiches I am -not- making anything hot. I hope it will all go smoothly. I might be exhausted tomorrow or Sunday so if you don't hear from me please don't assume bad things.

Tried a new recipe for fake 'banana bread' made with banana extract, almond flour, a lot of eggs, flax seed meal and other things. Very low in carbs and pretty good. Only I tried to put walnut in and of course because it had more eggs than anything they all sunk to the bottom! still good though :)

something new - tried a new recipe, which was ok but not great. Probably won't make it again. Of course, if I had actually followed the recipe as published it might have been a whole lot better!

something new - new recipe (pretty good) and arranged for a new house cleaner for Mom

something new - what I think was a new salad recipe, or, if I have made it before, it's been a long time
6/20 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - added sugar snap peas to a salad. Good!
6/21 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - invited a bunch of women over to play cards today. Then had to cancel because only one person could come
6/22 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - used an "onion" from my garden. At least I think it was an onion. It was supposed to be an onion. I planted a bunch last year to try to keep the bugs away. It was only about an inch in diameter and had about 5 "cloves," like garlic. Strong for an onion but not quite garlicky.

Daily notes:
Well, we were going to clean the airconditioner that I was ready to throw out the window because it wasn't cooling the air much at all! Turns out that it was tilted forward when we tried to move it and there was a lot of water coming down. This was why it didn't work so once I adjusted the bracket better (we have side sliding windows so it is on a bracket with plexiglass on top of it) it actually worked! No need to clean it! First time to manage to fix an airco! Heh..

Trying a new keto waffle mix to make breakfast sandwiches with. Took a small bite and it's a little grainy but tastes fine. The Paleo one has too much sweetener in it for me, this doesn't. Birch Benders brand.

Daily notes:
Saturday: bought a planter and some small plants when I've never done anything like that before. They're still out in the shadow unplanted but I've been watering them.
Sunday: Baked a loaf of 'chocolate bread', very good, especially with butter. It is more bread than say pound cake but it works for me!

something new - tried a new recipe, which was ok but not great. Probably won't make it again. Of course, if I had actually followed the recipe as published it might have been a whole lot better!

Daily notes:
I walked through the supermarket where I normally need a riding cart, but they had none and the people waiting needed it more than me. I went with a normal cart and sat on a bench and made tiny trips to each place I needed something from, then back to sit down. I was totally -exhausted- at the end but I got 1324 steps when normally 300 gives me trouble! Gonna see if I can't do that more often, it takes a lot more time but also gets me a lot more movement.

something new - new author - Aaron J Elkins, "Fellowship of Fear"
6/2 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - seated stretches. (Didn't like Elkins' book)
6/3 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - another seated stretch
6/4 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - used leftover horseradish mustard sauce as dressing on my cauliflower and egg salad. Turned out pretty good.
6/5 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - Taco Omelet for lunch. New recipe for pot roast for supper. Both new recipes were ok. I like my old pot roast recipe better, though.
6/6 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - mowed the front yard and most of the backyard, much more than I've been able to do in one day this year
6/7 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - My something new was going to be going to the Senior Center exercise class, but they're closed for some kind of construction. Was going to count it anyway, but then remembered that I made an appointment for an eye exam - my first "extra benefit" from my Medicare Advantage plan.
6/8 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - Russell and I took the longest walk of the year (maybe the longest in a year and a half!) and went someplace we've been to before but not recently. And I planted my garden.
6/9 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - looked at my SP recipes under my other name (simplemaw) and discovered a whole bunch that I'd forgotten about. Am working on copying them, too.
6/10 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - drank a mug of bone broth an hour before bed - it's supposed to make you sleep better. Not sure if it worked, but I did sleep better last night.
6/11 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - made a new kind of quiche - one that I came up with all by myself! Cauliflower, Bacon and Cheddar Quiche. Doesn't sound very good, but turned out ok.
6/12 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - first time to Farmers' Market this year, and only went about twice last year
6/13 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - signed up for MyFitnessPal and tried to enter recipes there
6/14 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - Sorted a big box of papers for recycling. I save paper, but curb-side only picks up cardboard and cans now, and you have to sort paper to recycle it at the center. I have papers (mostly envelopes - don't get the newspaper) going back two years!
6/15 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - new vegetable - gray or Mexican zucchini. Couldn't tell the difference between it and regular zucchini. Made Zucchini Vichyssoise with it, which I've made before but not in a long time. Also played Hand and Foot (Canasta) with friends for the first time in about 15 months! Also signed up on the Atkins.com website and posted my food there. And added a new section to my Russell Walk. Lots of new stuff!
6/16 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
something new - mowed the WHOLE lawn in one day! First time this year I was able to do it! Also tried two new recipes - Chicken and Asparagus Salad (ok, but the asparagus didn't really add anything) and LC Faux Honey Mustard Dressing (good - it definitely made the salad)

Was quite late to bed, by the time I finished mowing, cooked off, took a shower, and relaxed.

Daily notes:
Wasn't able to walk much besides just hobbling in the house, while putting out the heavy garbage yesterday I managed to mess up my hip. For a new thing today I forgot to buy spinach and didn't realize it until it was time to add it to my dish, which was too late! So I had chicken, spinach and peanutbutter stew without the spinach. I am using spinach for my icon but it should have a red bar through it for 'none'..

Especially Dracula!

Another 24 hour fast. I am planning on a 36 hour fast at the end of the month. So far the 24 hour fast has been--not exactly easy, but not hard either.

Leone
Hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
