Told myself I was going to get 5 things out of my closet and either donate or take upstairs. My closet is once again packed to the point that I have to dig through to get to the items that I enjoy wearing. I'm now on about 15 things. Some nice stuff, but I never choose it for one reason or another. Remember when the fashion was the knit tops made out of pretty prints with sequins or beads sewn on? Yeah -- I'm letting some of those go. I tried wearing some of them around the house and the sequins just irritate me when my arm brushes against them.

Oh wow, good job on that Paula... :-)

I can't even remember how many things I picked up and put away... And they were all my stuff. I have all kinds of little projects scattered around the house! I did start putting things in a big sewing type basket that I am not currently, actively working on. And I put all the rest of the "kit" type projects in a big tote that is near my sewing machine.

5 more little things upstairs. One was a package with 3 unopened bottles of Seroquel that was prescribed for DH's mom who died 6 years ago....and in the cardboard box from Canada they were mailed in. Cardboard box removed - bottles in baggie and placed in DH's top drawer (also for junk) in his bathroom closet vanity. He'll see them there eventually and deal with them and won't even know how they got there...lol. I read that it is an anti-psychotic. Probably was for when MIL was hallucinating someone serenading to her outside her window and seeing dogs and cats in the room that were not actually there. She went through these altered states several times - sometimes it seemed to be triggered by UTI's.

Getting started with 5 things really helps me a lot! Sometimes it's only 5, and sometimes I get on a roll! Got started in the greenhouse today telling myself I'd pull out 5 hanging baskets to hang in front of our windows, then the kalanchoes were all blooming so vividly that I couldn't resist pulling them out to our little protected circle in front of the house (deer love to chomp on them). It was good to be out in the spring air. No more freezes predicted so hopefully I won't be having to put them all back in the greenhouse.

I love kalanchoes! So easy to take care of and make new starts from.

I like this. I've been searching for 7 items to get rid of everyday, and maybe adding to this by putting at least 5 things away would help me make a lot more progress. Heading into my sew room right now to accomplish this.

Way to go on the veggie cookbooks. I mostly eat vegan but not always. I put an egg in my bread machine bread this morning.

I also have some cookbooks by my bed. I am going through them and hope to donate one book a day.

I have been picking up 5 (at least) in my bedroom.

I've stacked 5 vegetarian/vegan cookbooks by my bed (didn't plan it that way, but 4 are mine and one from the library). It's my goal to cook about two or three new recipes a week from them. Looking for some good soups now. Good for browsing just before I'm ready to turn out the lights.

emoticon on all your new "toys"! The serger sounds fantastic...and so personalized, too, with a name. Cute!

Sounds like a great idea with the ziplock bags...I had come to the conclusion that's what I'll do, too. Get a gallon size bag for each color (Yes!) and then when I need a color it won't be so hard to find. Some colors there are not as much of, so quart size will be fine, I think. Some of the smaller spools I'm going to put an assortment in 2 ziplock bags for my 2 sewing baskets. Keeping all the thread sounds like too much, but some of the colors there are just slight variations and I never know what exact shade I'll need. And white and black - can never have too much of that. emoticon

Today I got my new washer and dryer delivered, Seems I can program my phone to work with it, yeah right, like I am going to be able to figure that out! Hahahaha! Anyway, I will be so glad to get the laundry room reorganized. I am going to take everything out of the cupboards, Oh my gosh, the horror!!! More to follow tomorrow...

Oh, I have a million spools of thread too Paula. I am lucky that my sewing cabinet has a deep pocket drawer thingie and I put them all in snack bags, 3 to a bag, by color and the matching bobbin if I had one. Yeah I got bored one afternoon.

The rest of my sewing stuff, like tools is in an old suitcase where I can get to it easily. I have really been working on my sewing stuff because if is isn't easy to get to I won't sew. And I do love to sew!

I bought my 2nd German made Pfaff Serger this weekend, and just got it threaded, so I can make a denim quilt for camping. I have had the squares cut out for goodness knows how long!

I have named her "Lieselotte" after the German lady who used to own her. She was German too and went by Lisa. Lisa and I are going to get along fine!

Goal today is to bring 5 things down from "the room". I'm trying start on the side that has the sewing machine table on it. There is just SO MUCH stuff from Mother's sewing room I'm trying to work in. More thread spools than one can imagine.

I smelled that smoke all night in bed. My hair must have absorbed it! When I walked into church today I made the comment to our lay-leader that I smelled like a campfire. She got all paranoid thinking I told her SHE smelled like a campfire. Turns out she was at the barrel races last night and they had a fire going to keep warm and she got all smoky, too. Our church is very informal in the way we dress. I don't think I've ever seen her in a dress -- it's always jeans and western wear. I like that! I dress sometimes, but don't worry if I just feel like going casual.

Not much picking up today.

Just now after getting home I'm doing the "5" method hanging up clothing. I must have pulled out 6 or 7 coats and scarves. We went to an outdoor party tonight and it was COLD! I wanted to have just the right coat, but not one I didn't want to end up smelling like a smoky campfire.

Great to see you, Kathy! Just now I took down cucumber cages in the garden. Worst garden ever this spring and summer due to the drought (even though we watered, there's just something about rainwater that is superior). Hoping the greens I put in this fall will be a different story. 4 cages, but I'm counting it as 5. emoticon

Packing for the morning again. Plan to hit the spin class, then shower at the Y and meet my friends for lunch. Mexican food tomorrow...sounds good!

Tonight I'm getting tomorrow's restaurant outfit together and packed, laying out my gym clothes. Filling my yeti with ice and water and putting in the car. Getting my cheese stick ready to take with me for breakfast on the way, and about to head over to the menu to decide what I'll get. That's 5 things! emoticon

emoticon those cubbies seem to attract items!

Tonight I did 5 things to be ready to leave early tomorrow. Washed hair, filled yeti-style glass and put in car, got my shopping list in my purse, laid out my workout clothes, have breakfast (cheese stick) ready to grab on my way out the door.

Good good setting all of that up! :-

I picked up at least five in my bedroom including the empty water bottle I have every single morning, LOL

Neat to find something you love like that! I know what you mean about buying your own fabric these days. I used to sew all the time in high school and into my mid 30's, but then it seemed to be where it was cheaper to buy already made, and some of the styles were fabric that was harder to stitch. I'm amazed at the cost per yard when I go to places like Hobby Lobby and Walmart and JoAnne's that still sell fabric.

Got myself geared up to do my home spin ride in "5's" this afternoon. Was feeling a bit sluggish so told myself I'd do 5 things to get my ride set up. 1. Put on t-shirt and exercise bra (yeah, there is bouncing on the bike believe it or not...LOL) 2. pull the plugged in fan out of it's hidey hole and turn it on aimed at the bike. 3. Get my huge jar of water set up by the bike. 4. Get the computer set up with the countdown timer on the screen, and the downloaded spin music selected. 5. Put on my spin shoes.
Funny -- sometimes just the thought of getting set up makes me procrastinate, but it really doesn't take all that long.

I got the cutest kimono at Ross the other day. I've been wanting one and I even got a pattern, but I could not make it for what I bought this one for, I had to fix the fringe, so it was on clearance for eight dollars, too much fun!!!

Christine, I'm a lot like you! The clothing I wear most of the time is my active wear. And it comes from places like Old Navy, Walmart, UnderArmor, Target etc. Most of my "nicer" things have actually come from consignment store and thrift store finds from places like Dillards, Ann Taylor, Chicos, Talbots, Coldwater Creek etc. I usually don't have such a hard time trying to find an outfit to wear unless I need to dress up for an occasion like a party (coming up) at my DH's family bank, or sometimes even for church. I much prefer activewear, but when I'm called on to be a bit more dressy and put-together (admittedly not very often in the scheme of things) is when I feel pretty clueless about what wear. And, I suspect, that it also has a lot to do with how good I'm feeling about other aspects of my life as well. If I'm feeling pretty stress free in other areas, then it's not such a big deal. emoticon

Sounds like you dress a lot nicer than I do. I wear my activewear for my walk. And then most of the time for running around I just wear leggings and a long sleeve T-shirt that’s V-neck. Lately I wear those and I got the T-shirts at Walmart. And a couple of the nicer outfits I also got at Walmart and then I made a lot of my leggings. My better leggings I made because I’m hard to fit. So I’m curious what kind of clothes do you wear activewear or a lot more dressy?

I guess I'll just have to accept that my wardrobe and closet "management" will be a continuing project. emoticon It's tough. I would love to be able to have just a few classic go-to pieces I could mix and match. I'm envisioning tops, a few vest type things, and a few pairs of pants and one or two skirts. All pretty much in solid colors. And I would actually spend some money to purchase some of these items if I could find them. I've looked at online places like Coldwater Creek, but everything seems so expensive, and hard to guess at the sizing. It's an ongoing struggle. I'm guessing when some of the other things settle out (like finally getting my Mom's house listed and sold - my son getting settled in what's going on with his marriage) I might feel happier about all aspects of my life -- such as my wardrobe.

This morning I picked up things in the kitchen in groups of 5 while I waited for my eggs to cook.
